The transition into adulthood is fraught with challenges. We often need extra support during this time. Did you know that our brains are continuing to develop well into our mid to late twenties? Traumatic experiences that occur before our brains finish developing are more easily stored as negative core beliefs (Think: I'm not good enough; I don't matter). These core beliefs can be extremely hard to overcome on top of all the other transitions we have to make during this time. It's a challenge, and I want you to know that you're not the only one who may be struggling.

The transition into adulthood is fraught with challenges. We often need extra support at some point between the ages of 18 and 30. It's best to seek out therapy BEFORE symptoms of stress, anxiety, and depression start to interfere with your daily life. If you're already noticing that your relationships are being impacted, or you're struggling at work, it's time to talk to a therapist. Symptoms of depression and anxiety can develop into Mood Disorders, which are medical diagnoses that need to be treated by a Licensed Therapist, Psychologist, or Psychiatrist.

If you're over the age of 18, you're considered an adult and therefore responsible for medical paperwork, appointment scheduling, and payment. However, most of my young adult clients have signed a release of information that allows me to communicate with a parent or partner regarding progress or payment. As a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, I have specialized training in family approaches to counseling. When appropriate, I include family members and partners in the counseling process. We'll discuss whether or not family or relationship counseling would be necessary to help you achieve your goals.
